what is
neurology

Neurology is a branch of medicine dealing with disorders of the nervous system. Neurological conditions are wide ranging and can involve any part of the nervous system including not only the brain, but also the spinal cord, peripheral nerves and muscles. An alteration in the function of any of these can result in a variety of neurological symptoms that can often be disturbing and in some cases, disabling.
A careful and systematic neurological assessment will help to identify the nature of the problem and guide us toward appropriate treatment options.
The use of imaging techniques such as CT or MRI scanning, and neurophysiological tests such as electroencephalography (EEG), electromyography (EMG) or Nerve Conduction Studies may be a necessary part of the diagnostic process in a range of clinical presentations.
